automatic layout generation

Hello,

I have created the schematic for different cells from the symbol view using gdmCreateSpec commands (CDBA database). Now I would like to  generate the layout  for each schematic cell for the same library. I am using

lxGenFromSource(dbOpenCellViewByType(libName cellName "schematic" "" "r") ) and i am getting following warning message

*WARNING* (LX-2031): Cannot find the specified schematic cellview. The name or database ID you specified either does not exist or does not point to a validschematic cellview. Specify a valid schematic cellview and try again.

Also i am not sure In my database I have symbol.oa instead of sch.oa .Please let me know how can i fix these warning messages and create the layout views automatically.

Thank you.

OK, it sounds as if you've copied the symbol view to the schematic view (with ccpCopy()?) and are aiming to use that to generate layout. Why? This will have created a view called "schematic" which is a copy of the symbol (and is actually a symbol viewType despite its name). I cannot see why running VLS XL from this would make any sense - the "schematic" won't have anything in it other than a picture of the symbol, so what good is that going to do?

Realistically you're going to need an actual schematic somewhere...

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Yes i am using ccpCopy() command. I got your point. I was trying to do the schematic instantiation from one existing library (which has symbol view) to new library. Plus creating the schematic driven layout for these cells. I will try another way for schematic instantiation . Thank you.
