Print schematics from Virtuoso

Hi,

I would like to print schematics from virtuoso, for documentation purposes.

The best quality I get, is printing to postscript. However I would like to have high quality schematics with thicker lines and symbols. It would be nice, as well. to remove the pins from instances (red squares) and be able to edit the schematic on Visio/omnigraffle.

I was thinking of doing a script with M4 and dpic, but I guess if Cadence has already a better way to do it, is not worth it to re-invent the wheel.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Pedro

    Hi Pedro,

If you want a guaranteed response, you should use customer support (answers here from Cadence people are in our spare time; I've been travelling a lot over the last couple of weeks, hence my lack of responsiveness too).

PostScript is your best option right now (the print engine also has some other rather archaic formats, e.g. to drive Versatec plotters) but much of the technology has not been updated for some time. There's a long-standing request for SVG output (CCR 1095741, with a number of duplicates), but no plans yet (there are some challenges because of pixel-based optimisation done during the drawing engine which make this trickier than you might expect).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
