Detect If two polygon overlapping

Hi,

Is there any function that can detect polygon1 overlapped with polygon2?

I wish to perform something like:

1. Starting from polygon1, detect all the polygons that overlapping with polygon1.

2. Apply the same function to all the polygons (from1) recursively to get all polygon that connected to one another (same layer).

I understand dbGetOverlap which use to detect the shapes in a bBox region, but seems it was difficult to perform the above task.

Let me know if you have any function that you aware.

Thanks,

KS.

dbGetTrueOverlaps would be a way. Otherwise, depending on what you want to achieve in the end, you can do a first check if the bBoxes touch or overlap and then just generate the overlapping shape with dbLayerAnd (when nothing is returned, there is no overlap) or dbLayerOr to just merge the polygons together. When a singles shape is returned here, the input shapes had obviously some overlap. However, this still can result in multiple objects, when the number of vertices is exceeded, but in this case connected polygons should share common points, which can be checked rather easily (again first check bBox, then points).

Third option are the Advanced Boolean Engine Functions (those starting starting with abe...), suitable here would be e.g. abeIslandIterator, which basically does what the name suggests.
