Problem creating a custom via in layout

I am try to create a via in layout, but I am get a warning and the via is not created

The Warning

*WARNING* (DB-220810): dbCreateCustomVia: The creation of customVia with a cdsGenViaDef is not supported

The code I use that gets the warning ( same code with "M1V1M2" works )

techId = techGetTechFile(cvPwr)

viaDef0 = techFindViaDefByName(techId "CAVAM1")

dbCreateVia(cvPwr viaDef0 centerBox(lAnd~>bBox) "R0")

Current work around I can create a stdVia then replace with the custom via

leReplace(cvPwr viaList list(list("via definition" "==" "CAVAM1")))

Is there a better way to create the customVia
