How to choose Sweep variable for the plot before plotting the waveforms

Hi,

I am running sweep simulations in ADEXL/Assembler and there are more than one design variables that I sweep. Let's say TempVar and VddVar. When I plot my waveform, I want to specifically show my outputs w.r.to VddVar, I know how to do this from the plot by changing Swap Sweep Variables from the plot but is there a way to set this one in calculator or output expression before plotting so that plot comes with expected sweep variable in X axis when the plot shows?

Thanks

yayla

    Hi Yayla,

You can generate the graph and then use Right Mouse->Send To->Calculator and it should contain an expression using the swapSweep function (unless you're using a pretty old version), or you could build up the expression in the calculator using the swapSweep function.

If you then add that expression to the ADE outputs, you would normally then use the EvalType column and change it from "point" to "all" (so that it's performed as a measurement-across-all (MAA), i.e. once all the results are available), to plot the waveform with the axes swapped. MAA is available in Assembler; if you are using ADE XL, you only have measurement-across-corners (MAC); Assembler also has measurement-across-sweeps (MAS).

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. I figured out the swapSweep function but it is not consistent in terms of sweep point order in the x-axis.

For instance, the below two are the plots I got for swapSweep function to plot two output expression in ADEXL(or same for Assembler). Sweep order is same in the simulation setup but x-axis order sometimes gets messed-up run-to-run.

This is the one of x-axis using swapSweep

This is the other x-axis with same simulation setup in a different run

If possible, it is nice if we can specify an array/vector myself like (GS0 GS1 GS2 GS3 GS4) and plot uses this as an x-axis ordering to get a consistent axis over different plots.

I am familiar with SKILL/Ocean so open to those as a solution.

    Thanks

    Hi Yayla,

I'm not entirely sure why the order is inconsistent, but you can deal with it using my (updated today) abSortXValues function found in article 11584412 . This will sort the x-axis values alphanumerically, so I think that will do what you want.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
