Use of functions leHiConvertShapeToPathSeg() and leHiConvertPolygonToPath()

Hi Cadence , is there a way to control which direction the output results of the convert shape to path or pathSeg happen ?

The default seems to be when a rectangle / polygon is longer in one direction than another that is the direction which the centerline occurs.

But is there, perhaps, an environment variable which could change and control which direction is picked for the centerline ?  Perhaps the direction of the cursor would be used , in other words , if the mouse cursor is off to the right that would be the direction of the path / pathSeg.

thanks, just wondering , the HELP documents don't mention a control for this setting.

TIA, Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm,

From IC6.1.8 ISR11, the convert to pathSeg converts the shape based on the routing direction of the layer (you can see this or change this in the layer palette). This behaviour is controlled via the:

    layout followRoutingDirection boolean t

env var (the default is t).

So perhaps that will help you? I've not found any other requests to control this, and don't see any way of doing it with the built-in functions other than the one I just mentioned.

Note there are some older pieces of SKILL code to achieve this which could be adapted:

    • How can I convert polygons to pathSegs using SKILL?
    • How can I convert rectangle shapes in layout to pathSegs?

    Andrew
