What is the best way to load custom calculator functions for all users

Hi,

I have a couple of custom calculator functions. I created UI for them using template UI builder.

I want to load those functions from central .cdsinit so they will be available for all Virtuoso users.

It is the way described in manual

But is an additional ini file really necessary? Or is it a simpler way without ini file?

And there are also examples using

calRegisterSpecialFunction

You can just call awvLoadCustomCalcFunction directly without the extra file. The only benefit of the "central.ini" type approach is that the file is the same as that saved by ViVA in your own ~/.cadence/dfII/viva directory, so you can re-use that - and it's one file that everyone can reference.

The functions loaded via this extra file show up in red in the calculator rather than blue. Not really sure why that's a benefit or disadvantage!

The calRegisterSpecialFunction is the old way of registering functions, and any form has to be a special "hi-like" form rather than the embedded forms within the calculator. I never use that approach any more - I always use the newer ocnmRegGUIBuilder approach these days.

    Andrew.
