How to add my simulator in ADEL

Rick Xie

Greetings,

I am trying to add my simulator into the ADEL. The simulator should be in the Setup->Simulator/Directory/Host->Simulator. I was wondering how to deal with this problem.

Thank you very much!

Adding a simulator into ADE is a task that normally would be done with close interaction with Cadence. You should contact your account team (as you'll also need an additional license to integrate a third party simulator, plus extra documentation covering the process which is not part of the usual Virtuoso shipment). The OASIS integration has to include definitions of each analysis and parameter, netlisting formatters and so on - so that the ADE interface is tuned to the capabilities of that simulator.

If this is not "your" simulator but from a third-party EDA vendor, then the integration would normally come from them - in which case you should contact that vendor.

    Regards,

    Andrew

Thank you for your prompt reply! Actually our team develop a simple simulator supporting different netlist languages (like Spectre). We wanna use the virtuoso schematic editor to generate the netlist, then input it into the simulator. I wonder whether this whole process could be done through here (perhaps some continuous development interfaces)?

    Thanks,
    Rick

I'm not sure I really understand what you're saying here. You'll need to talk to your local Cadence office about this - it certainly can't be done through the community forums.

In fact, I mean, this is a simulator developed by ourselves. Does integrating a non-commercial simulator also require an additional license?

    Thanks

Yes. The license is a run time license for using the simulator integration plugin interface; it doesn't magically know whether the simulator is commercial or not.

Regardless of this you'd still need to talk to your local Cadence office as I mentioned above; simulator integration is a specialist task and so needs some dedicated support.
