modifying elements of a list in a foreach loop

How would one modify the list elements using a foreach loop?

For example :

L1=list('("a" "b"))

L2=list('("c" "d"))

L3=list('("e" "f"))

foreach( l list(L1 L2) l=append( l L3 ))

The foreach loop processes the index variable "l" each time but does not modify the value of the list elements L1 & L2.

You could use destructive list modification to modify the lists in place - append will not do that. Use nconc instead:

foreach( l list(L1 L2) nconc( l L3 ))
