Ruler type display to mark coordinates

Hello there,

I am trying new thing in virtuoso layout editor but unable to find any method to do so - I want to make a section in the toolbar for zoom to a given point. User can just give coordinates and that coordinate is highlighted in layout with the coordinate value. I am able to make toolbar and mark the coordinate as well but I can't find a method which can the show coordinate value also without changing the database of layout. I don't want to checkout layout DB to mark coordinate. I like how ruler shows the marking, when we zoom out markers also becomes bigger and it also does not alter the database. Is there any function I can use to mark and show coordinates in ruler like fashion.

If there is anything missing, please let me know.

Virtuoso version : ICADVM20.1-64b.500.23

Thanks for your time

Amar

    Hi Amar,

The API to add a ruler (which can be either a traditional ruler or a distance) would be leCreateMeasurement, and this can be a transient ruler/distance if you add it so that it's not saveable. However, I don't think that's what you want because the data you want to show is neither a ruler nor a distance.

Probably the best would be to use geCreateHilightSet (make sure you enable the hilight set after creating it so you can see it) and then use geAddHilightLabel to show a label. This is not stored in the database, but will render in the window.

    Regards,

    Andrew

Thanks Andrew for your response. I have tried that and it works good. I was thinking that maybe some ruler type marker (which increase in size when we zoom out), but I think that type of feature is not available right now.

    Thanks,

    Amar
