Is there any way I can detect an adjacent metal width for spacing?

Hi,

I'm trying to write a skill code generating metals in an empty space so I need to know the adjacent metal width to put proper spacing between the existing metal and the metal to be generated.

My current scheme is to grow the metal to be generated by the maximum space in the design rule of the metal and if it overlaps to an existing metal, I'm not going to generate it since I don't know the existing metal width so how much I have to reduce the metal width to be generated.

Any advice or better ideas on this?

Thanks,

Jan

    Hi,

Have you tried using dbGetNeighbor to fetch the neighboring shape in a given direction and calculate its width?

    Hope this helps,

    Aurel

No I haven't. That sounds interesting. I'll try that. Thank you very much Aurel!
