What is different between sevStartSession and hiGetCurrentwindow

If i use

sev_session = sevStartSession(?lib tb_lib ?cell tb_cell ?view tb_view)

and

wid = hiGetCurrentWindow()

session = asiGetSession(wid)

asiLoadState(session ?name tb_ade_view ?option 'cellview ?lib tb_lib ?cell tb_cell)

what is different between sev_session and session?(all argument is same)

    There are two different layers involved here. The "sev" session is for the interactive simulation environment, whereas the "asi" (or OASIS) session is the underlying structure for the simulator integration. Sometimes you might have an "asi" session without there being a "sev" session (e.g. when simulating with OCEAN) - when there's no interactive environment.

    Your title was slightly confusing because sevStartSession and hiGetCurrentWindow do total different things, and it seems that your question is not about those functions, but the difference between a session returned by sevStartSession and one returned by asiGetSession.

    Hi, Andrew

    thanks for your response.

    It is right that what i wonder is different between sevStartSession and asiGetSession.

    Now, i have confusion about term of "simulation".

    Can i get more detail about  the interactive simulation environment and  the underlying structure for the simulator integration?

    This is covered in the Virtuoso ADE SKILL Reference and the older Virtuoso Analog Design Environment L SKILL Reference manual. You can find both in the cdnshelp documentation in your installation - simplest way would be to run "cdsFinder" from the UNIX command-line, or startFinder() in the CIW, and then search for asiGetSession - and then click on the "More Info" button having found a result. The same manuals can also be found on http://support.cadence.com
