Not able to change instance view level

prasadtammana

Hi,

I'd like to write a skill code to hide an instance from displaying in layout. So, I'm using geSetInstViewLevel( hiGetCurrentWindow() car(geGetSelectedSet()) 0 0). This code is executing, but I still see the instance visible. Is there something that I'm missing?

Thanks,
Prasad

    Hi Prasad,

Both the instance-based and area-based view depth selection can only increase the depth. So if you've already set the stopLevel globally to 32, you can't reduce it for selected instances. A long-standing limitation, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrew. So I changed the stopLevel to 0 and increased the depth of all instances except the instance that I want to hide to 32. It worked.

The above process works for hiding the instances placed in the current cell view. Is it possible to hide all instances of a cell throughout the hierarchy?

No. There have been some enhancement requests to support that kind of feature too, but there's nothing available that I'm aware of right now.
