We want to rotate a cell with an arbitrary angle, not just at 0 deg, 90 deg, 180 deg, and 270 deg.

We are using the following SKILL sentence:

dbCreateInst(cv Master nil coords "R0")

but we are not able to modify “R0” to any value.  Is it possible to modify the angle R0 from the SKILL sentence?

Regards,

Arantxa

The orientation of instances can only be the 8 orthogonal orientations (this is clear from the documentation):

    R0, R90, R180, R270, MY, MX, MYR90, MXR90

This is a database restriction. One possibility is to use dbCreateXformPCell() - this will create a version of a cellView which supports a magnification and any-angle (it's achieved by creating a PCell which flattens and rotates the contents by an arbitrary angle; it should only be used with relatively small amounts of data as otherwise it could get very slow).

Thanks a lot Andrew. We supposed it was a layout restriction- Any way, as you suggested, if we flatten the cell, it can be rotated any angle
