DEF CREATION ISSUE

I am trying to generate .def file from the ciw window,it gives me  VIAS,COMPONENTS but not NETS and PINS ,Please post possible solutions to this

  • Do you have connectivity in the cellViews you are trying to export to DEF? If not you probably should use the abstract generator to generate the relevant info - it rather depends on what you're going to do with the DEF and what level of detail you expect it to contain.

    Andrew,

    I have an LVS clean layout  with labels attached at the top.I want to feed the DEF to an IR simulator

    Could you please tell what kind of connectivity is required to create a proper DEF

    You'll probably need to create pins in the layout (if they are not there) and extract connectivity. VIrtuoso Layout XL can be used to extract the connectivity and Tools->Create Pins from Labels might help too - but you're going to need to get instances bound properly - so it might need Connectivity->Update Binding. Without knowing how your layout was created, and whether you have a connectivity source (i.e. a schematic) it's hard to advise without knowing more, so I'd suggest you contact customer support.

    Thanks Andrew!I Tools->Create Pins worked

    Connectivity->Update Binding This didnt work well,but I now I made instance name of layout and schematic same,but its not getting bound automatically. Each time I need to do Define Device Correspondence manually

    Any leads to bind automatically if instance name is same for layout and schematic
