pinLabel not visible

Using gpdk045 from Cadence.

Created a test library attached to gpdk045 and the create new layout cellview in the test library.

Entered the following two commands that returned no warnings or errors.

cvId = geGetEditCellView()
rodCreateRect(?cvId cvId ?layer list("Metal1" "pin") ?width 10.0 ?length 1.0
?netName "D" ?termName "D" ?pin t ?pinLabel t
?pinLabelHeight 0.2 ?pinLabelFont "stick" ?pinLabelLayer "text")

The palette, after clicking on the 'used' option, indicates that 'text' layer and Metal1/pin layer are both in the layout but 'text' layer is not visible. I have tried the above rod command using different layers for 'pinLabelLayer' but the pin label is never visible.

Layout XL will display 'netName' but the pinLabel as defined by the rod command remains invisible.

I have tested with IC617, IC618, and IC23 and none will display the pinLabel. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    I should've posted this in "Custom IC SKILL". Sorry.

    In the layout editor, use Options→Display and check Pin Names in the Display Controls section. This is needed because the label is created as a textDisplay, and the default is that these are not displayed. You can change that with:

    envSetVal("layout" "displayPinNames" 'boolean  t)

    (will normally affect new layout windows), or for an existing window:

    hiGetCurrentWindow()~>displayPinNames=t
