Form with size adjustable automatically

Martinsh

Hi,

Create a form to display some text. The text content may more or less. Make the form size adjust automatically based on the amount of text content. The maximum size of the form should be limited by the screen size. If too more text to be displayed on the form with maximum form size, show scroll bar. Please help on this.

It's like the form displayed with hiDisplayAppDBox(). But the dialog Box size can't be limited by the screen size when large amount of text displayed. It will go out of screen and no scroll bar.

Thanks!

This is sort of a layout form created with hiCreateFormLayout/hiCreateVerticalBoxLayout/hiCreateHorizontalBoxLayout/hiCreateGridLayout together with hiCreateLayoutForm. The field itself could be hiCreateMLTextField or hiCreateHypertextField. Scrollbars can then be added automatically as needed depending on whether the window fits the contents or the screen.

This then allows the form to be resizable (if done right) and you can constrain it in various ways. However, I don't think we offer the ability to set a better sizeHint or policy to adjust the size based on the content size (there's an enhancement CCR for that #2740570 ). Potentially you could adjust the size based on knowledge of the content, but then you need to also know about the font used as the hi.*Size functions are based on pixels.

There isn't really a way of doing this fully automatically that the form resizes based on the text contents, I believe (I may be mistaken of course...)
