disable 'halo' in Virtuoso XL permanently

How to disable  'halo' radio button permanently in Virtuoso/ Options/DRD options when I in Layout Suite L ?

I tried this in my home ~/.cdsenv :     layout  instHalosEnabled        boolean nil

It did not work and it always display default settings enabled when open up the Virtuoso

Any idea?
