Building an OBERON Compiler for the Tensilica

I would like to look into the possibility of developing an Oberon compiler/target for the chip used in the ESP8266. Is there sufficient documentation of these Tensilica chips somewhere? Probably better would be to port from an existing C implementation, correct?

My hope is to have the ability to target these using Astrobe for Oberon, which is an excellent Arduino alternative. Oberon is truly astonishing. The epitome of simple and elegant. It is also very efficient and produces a very small executable, @ 12 times smaller than Arduino and @ 2 times smaller than C+. My thinking is it would be a perfect pairing with the Tensilica "ultra small" form factor.

Lot's of neat things happening with Oberon, all around, as well. Look at this:

Any insight/tips/links to the whole adventure would be greatly appreciated.
