I am using OrCAD PCB Editor 16, and I am creating a static shape with a void inside on the Package Geometry Silkscreen Bottom layer. When I zoom out far enough, the void disappears in the main editor view, and when the Gerber file is created the shape remains solid and voidless.
I found that this happens both for large and small voids, and circular, rectangular, and polygonal.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Hmmm..not seeing that here (16.01 s32) so it should not be a problem.
Question: what type of artwork are you generating? RS274X?
Have you set the Shape->Global Dynamic Params->Void Controls properly?
I'm using 16.0 s050 (3/25/08).
I'm using RS274X.
It is a static shape, so I thought Global Dynamic Params only applied to dynamic copper shapes, but I did try playing around with the Void controls in the shape's parameter settings, making the "suppress shapes less than" value very low, and also making the minimum aperture very small.
I did just find something interesting, in GerbTool, which I am using to view my files, it seems to correctly render the voids in the preview section of the import dialog box, but then it fails to do so once it is imported.
Hmmm...you may have found the problem: the viewer. Post the gerber and I can check.
I use an old copy of CamTastic.
Here is an example I made with several square and circular voids of different sizes. All of them show up in GerbTool's preview, but disappear once imported.
How's it look? :) I think you might need a different viewer.
