Exporting .gds file from cadence

Hi All

I want to export .gds file from cadence 6.1 and import it to HFSS 10 and do some simulations. Just to make sure my gds file is ok I did import it back to cadence and I do see the same layout. But when I import the same gds file in HFSS 10,I dont see anything. I am not sure what is the problem. When I look at my gds file its not readable. I think I am not exporting gds file correctly. If somebody has a tutorial on how to export .gds file from cadence 6.1 thats would be helpful. Please help

Thanks

Did you try reading the manual? There's a whole manual in the help (use the Help menu in the tools) on Design Data Translators which explains how the stream interface works and how to set it up.

    Andrew.

It's binary. The detailed description of the format is in an appendix of the manual.

I did follow the steps listed in the manual. I could generate the gds file without any errors but when I open that file it looks very weired .

This is how my log file file looks like

INFO (162): You have not used the viaMap option. If the OpenAccess design has native oaVia instances, use the -viaMap option for preserving oaVia instances in a Stream Out - Stream In round trip. Using the -viaMap option improves performance and VM usage of applications using the Streamed-In design.  For details on the viaMap option, refer to the "Design Data Translator's Reference" guide for XStream.

    Hi Nadroit,

You may want to think about filing a service request at this point.

    best regards,

    Tawna

Then we'd be able to take a look at the stream file and check it. You could also attach it to a post in the forum - it sounds as if it is small and doesn't contain anything too sensitive - just a small number of shapes.

But a service request would probably be best.

    Regards,

    Andrew
