PAC Magnitude? Cadence Acronym Guide?

Hi all,

 I am following a analysis tutorial for a gilbert cell and one of the fields for a port is PAC Magnitude. What does PAC refer to?

I don't want to keep asking questions for trivial things like this. Is there a Cadence Manual containing information like this?

    Hi William,

    We have not published yet a formal “acronym guide” for Spectre/SpectreRF.

    PAC is periodic AC analysis.  It is similar to AC analysis (except that AC is linearized about a DC operating point).  PAC is linearized (or small-signalized) about a periodic operating point.   PAC magnitude is the magnitude of the Periodic AC signal.

    There are a couple of places where you can get more information on PAC and simulating circuits that translate frequency (mixers, oscillators, etc.)

    1.      The SpectreRF User Guide can be located online at http://support.cadence.com

    2.      You can also access the same documentation using the command in your xterm:

    cdnshelp  &

    Note that you will want to use the cdnshelp from the MMSIM hierarchy, e.g.

    /grid/cds/software/MMSIM111ISR/tools/bin/cdnshelp &

    3.      Finally, you can also access the documentation in pdf format by going to:

    /grid/cds/software/MMSIM111ISR/doc/spectreRF/spectreRF.pdf

    Note that the path to your software hierarchy may be different than the above at your particular site.  Your system administrator should be able to assist you with the correct path.

    If you are a newer user, it will be well worth your time to look on Cadence Online Support (http://support.cadence.com) for Solutions, AppNotes, etc.
