Plotting the Phase Noise: *Error* quotient: can't handle (nil / 1.414214)

Hello friends

I have simulated a VCO and I would like to plot phase noise after pss+pnoise simulation. But I face to this error:

 *Error* quotient: can't handle (nil / 1.414214)

Could somebody help me?

Thanks in advance

Shaa

    Shaa,

Not really enough info to go on. Which version are you using (of the IC tools and spectre). For IC do Help->About and note the subversion, and the simulator subversion will be in the simulator output log.

Do you have any unusual characters in the net names you're measuring the output at? Perhaps you can post a picture of the form and also show the analysis statements from the netlist (i.e. everything from the options statement to the end of the input.scs)?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Andrew,

I have changed output name from 'Vout+' to 'Vout1' and there is no problem more.

    Thanks,

    Shaa

Which IC version are you using? I thought this was fixed years ago...

    Hi Shaahin,

I tried this (with output nodes Vout+ and Vout-) in IC615 ISR17 and IC616 ISR7 (the two versions I happen to have locally installed, as I'm not in the office at the moment), and both worked OK, when using the direct plot form - either with the newer pn('pnoise) expression or the older phaseNoise(1 "pss_fd" ?result "pnoise") expression.

So I can only imagine it was broken around the subversion you were using (we did change from the direct plot using phaseNoise to pn in around 6.1.5.500.12 - so that's the most likely explanation for this having broken as I thought it was fixed years ago).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
