Some Questions :

1.For transient or any other long running simulations, how to ensure that simulation results are automatically saved on disk so that in event of program crash, one can resume with simulation upon next session ?

2.As far as layout and parasitic extraction is concerned , how is ADE-L different from ADE-XL and ADE-GXL ? Also, is there any documentation to understand the flow of virtuoso in terms of schematic design and layouts i.e. how cadence works ?

3.About gpdk_045 : there are two inductors - ind_a (asymmetrical) and ind_s (symmetrical). Is there a way to assign variable to inductor width or any other parameters to characterize it ? It seems that one cannot assign variable to any inductor parameters.

Thanks.

    Hi ,

Regarding issue # 1 , you might want to look at following sections of spectre user guide

"Recovering from Transient Analysis Terminations" Page 308 .

    Regards

    Vishal

    1. For transient simulations (only) this happens automatically. You can use +recover to recover from where it left off.
    2. That's a pretty big question, and there are manuals in the documentation on this. Also there are Rapid Adoption Kits on  to show you the main features
    3. No, they are not parametrisable in gpdk045.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Any fail-safe mechanism for pnoise or parametric sweeps apart from recover (I know recover works for transient when performing simulations for PLL based circuits).Thanks.

You cannot restart pnoise simulations, although it is possible to use writepss/readpss parameters on the PSS analysis (or writehb/readhb on an hb analysis prior to hbnoise) to allow it to restart the PSS (or HB) solution from a previous solution.

Parametric analysis can't be restarted, but if you use sweeps in ADE XL, it is possible to re-run unfinished/error points (there is a right mouse button menu entry over the "Interactive" (the history checkpoint) in the history tab of the data view assistant).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
