How do you optimize using Microwave Office?

I am trying to use this software to optimize my L and C values. I saw my professor teaching it but he is using the 17 version. I have AWR Design Environment (24.1) and I'm at a total loss with why this software doesn't change my L and C values. Its asks me to do it constrained so I select that option but my instructor's old version doesn't have it.

I then click optimize and I get this window but nothing works after I click start.

The current cost (just below "Optimizer Iter." in the screenshot you show) is calculated to be 0, which may mean that your measurement already meets the Optimization Goal(s) you've set for it.

Based on the Cost History graph that is shown at the right of your screenshot, it looks like you may have had an optimization cost at some point in the past, but the cost has successfully optimized to 0.  Perhaps the goal has been met?

In your project tab, there is a node called Optimization Goals.  Can you check to make sure that you've properly defined the goal or goals you want to set for this schematic?

If you have a graph set up to plot the measurement you are trying to optimize, does that graph appear to show data that meets your goal?

Regarding the need for constrained variables, there are improvements and some consolidations of some of our optimizations in the newer version(s) of the software.  In the Optimizer dialog, you can click the "Help" button for more information.  In addition, Section 1.6.9 of our Simulation and Analysis Guide has additional information about specific optimization methods, and the situations when each is especially useful.
