How to use Quickplace feature to place components in OrCAD X Presto?

OrCAD X Presto offers an easy and simple one-step solution to place components.

To drive a netlist in OrCAD X Presto, make sure to select OrCAD X Capture licenses from the schematic tool.

Select the design in Project Manager. Go to PCB > Design Sync Setup.

When the Design Sync Setup dialog box opens, before creating the netlist, make sure to select the layout tool as OrCAD X Presto so that the board file will open in OrCAD X Presto when you launch the board from here or perform the New Layout/Update Layout operation from OrCAD X Capture.

Create a netlist and a new board from OrCAD X Capture by selecting the New Layout/Update Layout option from the PCB menu.

When the board file is created and opened in the OrCAD X Presto tool, select the Quickplace Components option from the ECO menu. This will place all components in the design in a single step. All components are placed along the longest edge of the design outline shape.

Once placed, you can move the components in the design outline by using the Move icon.

Also, there are options provided in the Arrange pane of the Properties panel to rotate the symbols in the clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

After placing all components, you can also check the Status pane to verify if all components are placed or not.

You can see how easy it is to place all components in OrCAD X Presto in just a single step within seconds. I hope you would also want to use this for your board designs. This will save a lot of your time and effort, with the added advantage that it is very simple to do. Let me know if you like this step after using this option to place components for your design.
