How to create fanout in OrCAD X Presto?

In OrCAD X Presto, the fanout icon   is available in the floating toolbar. You can add fanout for components based on the symbol type. They are Radial, Linear, and Via in PAD.

The Radial type fanout can be used for BGAs, Discrete, ICs, and so on. The trace width can be user-defined at the instance of fanout creation or may be defined in Constrain Manager. The pin-via spacing can be a value or centered.

The direction of fanout can be chosen from the symbolic representation in the fanout option tab. When center-cross button is selected, the fanout will be created in four quadrants. A single direction can only be chosen at a time and there are eight directions available, as shown below:

The Linear type of fanout can be used to fan out on ICs, relays, QFN type packages, and so on. It can be created inwards, outwards, and both in and out. As shown in the symbolic representation, the channel space is the diagonal distance between the two vias and they can be set at the time of fanout creation.

If the start layer is set to top and the end layer is set to some internal layers, the available blind vias will be shown in the via dropdown, which is already defined in Constraint Manager. If both start and end layers are set to internal layers, the defined buried vias will be shown in the via dropdown. The net default in the via dropdown is a predefined one, where a specific via can be added for a net or group of nets.

If Include All Same Net Pins is enabled and the pin is selected for a net, the fanout will be created for pins that have the same net in the component.

The Via in PAD type of fanout can be used in all types of components if you need to have vias in pads. The via type can be chosen at the time of fanout creation and the vias need to be already added in the via list in Constraint Manager.

If Include Unassigned pins is disabled and fanout is created by choosing components, the fanout will be created for pins that have net logic. If enabled, the fanout will be created for all pins in the component, including the pins that do not have net logic.

    Same concern.  I do not have fanout options in floating toobar in Presto.

    Hello , this feature is availble with orCADX Presto Professional License.

    I understand.  Though, it is available in PCB Designer standard license.

    Hi Mahimag,

    It is very strange that the feature is only allowed in Presto Professional. However, that is already available in the PCB Editor Standard.

    I think there is something miss match between the PCB Editor  Standard and Presto Standard license. The presto standard user will be very happy if Candence development team can bring in what is already available in the PCB Editor Standard license into the OrCAD-X Presto standard license.

    I remember clearly when OrCAD-X was not even launched and it was advertised as that Presto is all PCB Editor plus some more feature. But unfortunately, it still lacks what is already in OrCAD PCB Editor Standard License.

    Can please someone from the OrCAD team look into this.
