https://resources.pcb.cadence.com/orcad-x-pcb-design-resources/whats-new-in-orcadx

Is this it?

  • TrueType font support
  • Property panel support for edit pad
  • Import pin delay
  • Auto define differential pairs
  • Make/export a library from the PCB
  • Sigrity X Aurora integration

If this is it, then Disappointed

Any real features added? Anything from the legacy tool ported to Presto to make it just usable?

What features are you looking for? Maybe if we voice our requirements here, someone in Cadence will take notes

I'm really confused about Presto.  Why was it made in the first place since we need to use both PCB tools to get anything done.  I do love the placement features in Presto.  That's just awesome.

But Presto is super buggy and slow.

It crashes on me once a day easily.

It sits for a minute every time I try and route something.

The selection filters are buggy.  You can turn stuff off and it'll automatically turn itself back on.

You need to turn off the selection filters to do most things (like drawing stuff.  Most times, this doesn't work with the filters on... I need to turn them all off constantly)

the "rainbow down' for color stuff is broken now (that was actually a great feature of presto)

Working with shapes in this tool is a nightmare (the selection filter again)

Handling text is a chore and really needs the legacy tool

The stackup manager is really buggy compared to the legacy tool (certain things don't refresh like they should like the impedance)

The pan and zoom are totally different than the legacy tool and that is totally different than the schematic tool.

Handling text is super buggy.  It's even worse now with the new font stuff.  The text tool window is buggy as well.  Can't mirror text, etc.

The legacy tool seems to really work great.  I just wish I had taken the time to learn that one first instead of Presto now that I'm knee deep into a few designs.

I'm assuming the Presto software was contracted out to a dif dev and was originally thought to be a competitor to Altium.  Not sure why you'd try and make a simple UI with the ultra complex Allegro back end.

I'm switching gears now and am going to stick with the legacy tool like everyone else and only use Presto for placement.

I was hoping version 25 would bring a more unified software model.

btw, does anyone know how to revert the text thing to the old way?

    thanks
