Why is there a gate current in mosfets?

I am using p channel and n channel mosfets to design an amplifier...The pspice model editor has mentioned maximum possible gate current rating of 250 nA. But the gate current in my simulation is going as high as 5 mA...almost all of drain current. What could be the reason?
