Unable to delete a cavity

aCraig
aCraig over 11 years ago

Some how a cavity shape was created in my design on the TOP layer the size of substrate outline.  The cavity was not in early design revision. I believe this is the reason my shapes no longer update. I'm unable to delete the shape. I've run dbdoctor. I get the following message when trying to delete the shape:

Selected item not valid for current operation, ignored: Shape(auto-generated) "Not On A Net, Cavity/Top"

No valid items selected for the current operation, exiting.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks,

Craig

What is the embedded status for the layer set to? You can check this in the Setup -> Embedded Layer Setup... form.If the layer isn't supposed to be a cavity containing layer, it should be set to "Not Embedded". If it's not, change it to that, and I believe the shape (which represents the filled parts of layer and will have voids in it for any cavities) should be removed from the drawing when you apply and close the form.

    Craig,

Not sure why you can't delete the cavity shape.  If you want to strip the APD .mcm database down to just that and send to me I will take a look.  I may be able to remove it with a SKILL routine and provide that to you.  Send to dal@daltools.com

    Hi dlocke,

I've already tried using SKILL. By the way the shapes in the design are now updating, quite bizzare. Might have to send this design to cadence support.

    Regards,

Had same issue on a SiP layout today and this suggestion fixed it, kind of...!!  Well, I don't see the "Setup -> Embedded Layer Setup" but in my cross section I changed M1 from "Not Embedded" to "Protruding" then back to "Not Embedded" and removed the boundary/cavity like a charm. I was at wits end trying to get rid of it.  : /  Thanks!
