How to map Escape key to Cancel in APD v17.2?

Coming from a different tool, Mentor Layout, I am more used to using Escape key to cancel any command. I tried different alias versions like below. None of them seem to work.

alias Escape Cancel

alias esc cancel

alias escape cancel

funckey esc cancel

funckey escape cancel

Also, what is the symbol for "Alt" in hotkeys?

For Ctrl, it is "~". For Shift it is "S". For Alt, I wasn't able to find one.

Any help is appreciated.

i use the following funckey:

funckey Esc "cancel"

i do not think you can use alt alone but with function keys, ctrl and shift keys

funckey AF1 "cancel"

this one is alt+F1

funckey ~AS1 "cancel"

this is alt+shift+ctrl
