How to convert a shape to a bondfinger and add a wirebond?

In some scenarios we have a polygon shape and would like to convert it to a bondfinger and add a wirebond to it.

Below steps will guide you through converting a shape to a bondfinger and add a wirebond?

  1. Convert a shape to a padstack

To convert a shape to a bondfinger, you need to first convert it to a padstack. To convert a shape to a padstack, perform the following steps:

  1. Select Tools > Convert > Shape to Padstack.
  2. Enable the following checks in the Options tab:

     Create via and remove shape

     Add padstack to via list

  1. In the "Padstack name:" field, type a padstack name, like PWR_FINGER.

4. The padstack loads into your design. You can use the padstack as a bondfinger, if you desire.

      B. Using the padstack as a bondfinger

To add a wirebond, using the padstack created earlier, as a bondfinger, perform the steps that follow:

  1. Select Setup > Application Mode > Wire Bond Edit.
  2. RMB on a die pad and select Add Wire Bond from the popup menu.
  3. Add the padstack in the Options tab, under the Finger section. It will act as a bondfinger.

4. You can now draw a wirebond with the padstack as a bondfinger.
