OrCAD Capture Part reference

Hi

I am working on a hierarchical Schematics and almost done with it. Before transferring it to board layout, i have to add some small parts here and there on the schematics. The issue i am experiencing is that whenever i try to place a part (Example:resistor) on Page 5, the part reference number which is allotted to it is (Example : R56). This part reference is already present on Page 6 such that now i have 2 resistors on the schematics with the same part number. Earlier i used to run "Reset Part references to ?" and then "Incremental reference update" which solved this issue.

But what i want is that Capture should automatically increment the part reference whenever a new part is placed so that there are no conflicts between part references.

Thanks

Under Options>Preferences, Miscellaneous tab, in Auto Reference, check the Automatically Reference Placed Parts and the Design Level options.

    Hi again

Just found out that when i have checked the above mentioned checkboxes, only the connectors are working according to this option. i.e. the new connectors i am using in Schematics are having different part references than the ones already present in Schematics.

But almost everything else does not follow this rule.i.e.Resistors, Capacitors, ICs all start with R1, C1, and so on.
