Does ORCAD support user-define hotkey?

Hi there,

As I know, Allegro allow user to define their own hotkeys according to their own habits.  Does ORCAD support user-define hotkey when design schematics, and how to set up it ?

The orcad version is 16.6. Thanks!

Unfortunately not, OrCAD Capture only supports the default defined ones.

Hi Xiaoyi,  It is true that there is no direct way to assign hotkeys to commands but you can get the same effect by adding your own commands in TCL. I have attached an example that turns the grids on or off with ctrl+q and ctrl+w. You will also see the commands in the popup menu in the schematic window under the last entry "More..."

To use it unzip the file capGridOnOff_v1_0_share.tcl in to your <installation dir>/tools/capture/tclscripts/capAutoLoad folder. Then unzip the two Grid_Display xml files to any folder you like. Finally open the file capGridOnOff_v1_0_share.tcl in a text editor and modify the string PATH_TO_YOUR_FILES to match the path to the folder where you have stored the two xml files. At the same time you can modify the shortcuts at the bottom of the file to suit yourself, if you want to.

This method can be used to replay any command that is recorded in the command window. Remember to have journaling on and display commands on. You can do this by typing SetOptionBool Journaling TRUE and SetOptionBool DisplayCommands TRUE in the command window (not the session window) or set them on in the extended preferences.

Note that I recorded the xml files in v16.6 but have used them in v17.7 without problem.
