Unable to create simulation profile without crashing

krakos
krakos over 5 years ago

Whenever I try to create a new simulation profile in Allegro Design Entry CIS v17.4-2019 the entire program crashes with the below error message. This occurs with even a new, blank schematic. I don't get to the point where I can even see any simulation options. I have tried to repair the installation and I still have this error. Please help.

Thanks,

Kyle

You have selected the wrong tier of license...Do you have simulation license..if so then switch to that license and then create simulation profile

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately this does not appear to be the case. I have the full license that I have previously used. Do you think it could be some server issue that I can't connect to the license server? If so, it's a shame there's no proper error message.

This isn't a license issue. Maybe the project which you are working on is causing the schematic tool to crash.

    1. Check with different files or use demo designs available by default in Allegro and simulate them. If it works fine then try renaming your project file and delete output files under project hierarchy.

    2. If the same thing happens for default designs too then rename capture.ini this may solve the issue

Thanks for the follow-up suggestions. The issue appears with all designs (old and new ones from scratch). I was in contact with Cadence support and they told me to do the following which eventually worked:

    1. Update to the latest patch
    2. Close Capture, PSpice and other Cadence tools which are running.
    3. Open ask Manager and make sure that none of the below processes are running. If they are running, end them manually.
      1. MrKSrvr.exe
      2. PSpiceExplorerSrvr.exe
      3. Simmgr.exe
      4. SimSrvr.exe
      5. Pspice.exe
      6. Capture.exe
    4. Now restart the machine and rename pspice.ini(%HOME%\cdssetup\OrCAD_PSpice\17.2.0\pspice.ini) to psipce_old.txt and capture.ini(%HOME%\cdssetup\OrCAD_Capture\17.2.0\capture.ini) to capture_old.txt.
    5. Now, in start menu type regedit and click on registry editor to open it. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Orcad\ and delete the CaptureWorkSpace and CaptureWorkSpaceEx folders.
