installed 17.4 as admin. starting Capture as user: cannot choose license

Hi!

I've just installed Cadence Orcad 17.4. The company has a license server with floating licenses for various suites.

It was installed using an account with admin rights.

When I start capture logged on as my normal user I get an error saying there are no free licenses. We have several different licenses ( w or w/o Pspice etc. ).

If I start Capture logged on with the same admin account I do get the license-choice and can select a suite that has free licenses.

I need to be able to select a license-suite logged on as the non-admin user.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there anything stored under the admin-accounts userprofile that has to do with the default license perhaps?

The "default license" checkbox in the license choice-window is NOT checked ( I can see this box when I start capture as admin, not as standard user)

Any help or hints on where to fix this would be much appreciated.

/Lars

Have you checked that CDS_LIC_FILE is set correctly for each user?

I did and it is set properly. It is the actual license server telling Capture there are no free licenses.

The issue is that capture default to checking out some license-tier that I cannot control when logged in as non-admin. Sometimes there are no free licenses but I cannot select another tier/suite.

Launch Capture with whatever license you can and BEFORE you open a design go to File - Change Product and make sure that use as Default is UNCHECKED. Now when you start the tools it will list any licenses.
