It seems like you are trying to do advanced annotation on a Pspice schematic project type.

Advanced annotation will only appear in this dialogue box for PCB schematic design. Select File > New > Schematic and you will see the advanced annotate option or in the current project select the DSN file in the project manager and Right mouse click > Change project type > Schematic.

Thank you! It worked. Another question.. Why does it not show the other folders but just the rooted folder?

    Hi,

It seems like your implementation of the hierarchies is a bit different.

In my opinion, the only reason to create schematic folders other than ROOT is to call those schematic folders inside ROOT as Hierarchical blocks. Once these other schematic folders are called inside the ROOT schematic, you will be able to see those as a part of the hierarchy in this dialogue box.

It looks like there are no hierarchical blocks in the MB Schematic Pages that reference the S<n> folders, hence they are not part of the "root" design and cannot be annotated.

Hi, I have the same issue. The reason why there are several folders created is due to creating of netlist. Netlist can only be created for the "rooted" folder. I have several sub boards that I need to generate the netlist. Combining all my MB - S7 schematic pages will yield a whole netlist which cannot be separated when doing layout, as such I have created folders to indicate they are of different sub-boards.

    Hi,

If you do not want to create a combined netlist of all the folders, then that means these folders have no relation with each other from the design/Board perspective. (As per my understanding - that is why you are not calling folders like S1-S7 in MB root schematic).

If you still feel the need to keep these folders in the same project (and create netlist separately for each folder), then I suggest the following -

Create netlist for with MB as ROOT > Once, this is done, RMB on S1 in project manager and select "Make Root".

Now create netlist with S1 as root. (Similarly do it from S2 to S7).Hence, creating 8 different Netlists and Boards. However, a better solution would be to create 8 different projects for 8 folders (as they seem to be not related).

In case the term "sub-boards" was meant to refer the ability to reuse a pre-designed schematic in new schematic and Board, then please refer to - https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/pcb-design/f/capture-cis/50801/redrawing-a-circuit-is-a-thing-of-past

    Noted with thanks.

I have tried your method but annotation was an issue because I was not able to annotate properly there were issues relating to Update Occurrences and Instances.

I decided to create 8 different project to cater for the proper annotation and also the creation of netlist. This method works as per wanted.
