Options to allow properties to be visible for Part Not Present components in variants? Want to see PN and/or value rather than DNI text overwriting.

I've created some variants for my schematic by using the Group/BOM Variant tools in Part Manager, but I have a problem with the way the DNI parts are displayed on the schematic. The default behavior seems to be that the <Value> and <PART_NUMER> properties in each part are simply overwritten with the "Do Not Stuff" text (I understand the "Do Not Stuff" text itself is configurable in CIS Configuration). I can see this when I Shift+M to select the variant I want to view, and then look at the unstuffed component's properties.

What I want is a way to change which component properties are overwritten. I want to be able to see the <Value> and <PART_NUMBER> fields on the schematic still, so that I know what the default choice for the schematic is. In the past, we haven't been able to find a way to do this, so we've been manually managing our DNIs with a user property, "BOM" which we populate if we don't want the part stuffed. This circumvents all the automation that Capture offers, and introduces quite a bit of opportunity for error.

Is there a way to control which properties get overwritten with the "Do Not Stuff" text?

Thanks!

Not really. You can control the Do Not Stuff text itself (so you can edit this so it shows DNI instead of Do Not Stuff). Go to Options - CIS Configuration - Setup - Administrative Preferences and change the Part Not Present Display Value to suit. In general though the default <Core Design> would have everything fitted and then the variants would show the different fits / no fits etc. Remember you can use View - Variant View Mode to show these and output a PDF for each.

    That's a bummer.

It seems the only solution is to maintain separate schematics for the <Core Design> and each <variant>. Perhaps that's a good flow, but it doesn't quite work with what I need at the moment.
