Smart PDF for design review

DesignTech

Every design needs to be reviewed. Your management, as well as the customer, wants to review it.

Using the schematic design tool and consuming one license just for the review is not economical. Also, installing design viewers is more work and CAD overhead. Moreover, the person doing the review needs to have the tool or the viewer. None of this sounds easy.

The best possible solution will be using one of the most common file formats for the review.

Let us use PDF for the review. Almost everyone has a pdf viewer, and no tool training is needed to view a pdf file.

OrCAD Capture exports Smart PDF, which can be used for the design review.

Smart PDF protects intellectual property and makes the design review consistent and uncluttered.

Design reviewers can navigate to any part reference, nets, buses, or any object present in the design using bookmarks. Hierarchical blocks can be descended to see the underlying schematic. This pdf also has object properties, which show just on a click.

Use File > Export on one of your designs to create this pdf and check it out.

The Theme used for printing is independent of the Theme used in the Schematic view and is set from Options>Extended Preferences, Schematic, Schematic Print Theme.
