Create a BOM report of your choice in Capture CIS

In the entire PCB design process, the Bill of Materials (BOM) plays an important role in maintaining a list of hardware used in a design. This way, the assembly line has sufficient information to process and test new parts even before the design is finalized for production. Most importantly, the in-house manufacturing team or third-party manufacturers save time and money if the BOM has a consistent format, organization, and content so that it is easy to read and analyze.

Whether you just want the schematic data in your BOM, properties from the corporate database, or a combination of both, CIS can do it all. You can customize the BOM report formatting as per your liking. And, it even has Crystal Reports, if need be.

Refer to this document on the Cadence Learning and Support Portal, which details various kinds of reports Capture has to offer.

I have some trouble of saving a new Reports\CIS Bill of Materials\Standard template (Current Report=Eng Bill Of Materials in Capture.ini) where I add a specific new field ('workflow status' from our DB).

The XLS report works only once when I add manually a 9th field from 'Select Properties' to 'Output Format', the Excel report is correctly generated with this new field and the new added property is saved in Capture.ini (Property count = 9, Property8=WorkflowStatus).

But when I close and re-open Capture, Property count is saved automatically to 8 in capture.ini at reopening(By the way, Current Report=Eng Bill Of Materials
and Report Names="Eng Bill Of Materials" now with double quotes while it was without just before the reopening).

And I have to redo everything as before.

I tried to create a new template eg. myBOM, it is saved in capture.ini : [BoM] section : Current Report=MyBOM, Report Names=MyBOM, Eng Bill Of Materials with the [BoM MyBOM] section and its fields correctly set i.e. Property count = 9, Property8=WorkflowStatus.

But again when I re-open Capture, the [BoM] section is rewritten to Current Report=Eng Bill Of Material, Report Names="Eng Bill Of Materials"
