Are library paths absolute?

When I add a library, it shows the full path under the project navigator. Is there any way to add a path that is relative?

How are people supposed to collaborate if different users might have different paths, drive names, etc. It seems the default libraries are placed in paths with the OrCAD version number in the path. What happens if you update OrCAD?

One solution I can think of is to map a folder as a network drive and use that absolute path across all machines, but this can clash with other requirements (IT, other customers, etc.) and does not seem optimal either.

Typically in schematic capture programs we have used local libraries (each project has its own library) in order to avoid the issues of many users editing central libraries and the issues that causes. Is there any way to do this in OrCAD?

I don't believe there is a way to use relative.

The official solution in 17.4:  Open a DSN.  >Tools >Utilities>Replace Path in Design Cache.

Someone at Cadence thought it would be hilarious to write this useful function to explode into a giant ball of flames if one or more existing paths in the library cache already have the new path (stops with a benign error message and does nothing.)

Have one coworker working on a VM who refuses to keep the SVN cache on his C drive.  I can't map the Y drive on a windows machine.  Therefore, when we make a library update, VM guy has to update design caches on projects he touched.

Thanks for that info! I guess that is a workaround, but I'm surprised it's such a pain to work on the same project across multiple users.
