OrCAD Tip of the Week: Sync changes across hierarchy

Hierarchical designs reduce a lot of repetitive work. They help repeat a circuit multiple times in designs with little to no effort.

 

However, with hierarchy, you need to be certain that changes in the referenced design are updated in the top-level designs. Manual verification of such changes is cumbersome. And regenerating the hierarchical block every time referenced design changes is also not an effective work model.

 

So, an automated way to synchronize these changes is of great help. OrCAD Capture offers just that. Synchronize Up/Down options on hierarchical blocks lets you synchronize your block with respect to the referenced design or vice versa.

You can even update the changes across all duplicate hierarchical blocks by using the Synchronize Across option.
