Assigning Pin Name to Net Name

LudovicL

Hello,

I'm working with Capture CIS for schematics and APD+ for layout

I'd like to have specific  Net Names for design clarity & checking, I'm exploring two options:

    - Schematics driven: I can manually and individually assign Net Names but I'm looking for a smarter & more automatic way. For example, assigning Net Names from a RefDes Pin Names ? any other way ?

    - Layout driven: when importing with Die_text_In & BGA_text_In, Net Names are already defined. But I can't find a way to back-annotate to Capture ? any idea ?

Have a nice day

Ludovic

For schematic driven flow: I have found this article on Cadence online support (COS) portal, using which you can rename all net names. Some of the best possible ways are described in this article. Link of the article is as follows:

Article (20393354) Title: How to rename net names in the design

    Hello,

Thanks for the article, I almost find my way to do what I want but I can't get it through.

In the Property Editor below, I'd like to copy/paste the Name column into the Net Name column but the tool doesn't allow me to do so, any ideas ?

In 'Aliases' tab, we can use copy-paste functionality in Property editor. I think this snapshot is from Pins in property editor.

That's correct, but as long as Net Names are in the format of N000234 the Aliases tab is void. Indeed, if they were there I would have no clew to what Pin Name they are connected to ... except if I could add the Pin Name column in the Aliases tab

I'm coming to the feeling that Capture uses the N000234 format in backstage and users cannot modify Net Names but can add Aliases to them .... which can only be done manually in the graphic interface. So I guess there are no short-cuts or workaround to that.

Thanks for your comments by the way Thumbsup
