One of many ways to edit property values in a Capture design: Export / Import Properties

It is a common requirement to edit property values in a design. Doing it on the selective parts is an easy task. However, when it is to be done on all or many parts or nets in the design, things start to get tricky. It might seem like an easy task, however, editing them all at once in a schematic design is not that straightforward. A schematic is spread across multiple pages, so selecting all parts at once is not possible. Often, even filtering out the selective parts from a design can be tricky. And then, editing property values on those parts is again a task.

Probably, the easiest solution will be to export a file of all part properties, edit the file in Excel and then import it to the design. Such a file, which can be edited in Excel, can be generated from OrCAD Capture.

Use the Tools > Export Properties option to export the part, part and pin, or flat net properties to a .EXP file.

Open this file in Excel and Excel will prompt the Text Import Wizard. Select Delimited as the data type and Tab as the delimiter and complete the process to open the file in Excel.

Once opened in Excel, you can easily modify property values. Then, use Tool > Import properties to import the file to update the design.
