How to load symbol libraries at startup

cineboxandrew
cineboxandrew over 2 years ago

Using some other help topics, Ive configured Capture in an attempt to load all my libraries in the "place part" window at startup by adding the following to capture.ini

[Part Library Directories]
Dir0=C:\Users\ac137\Cadence-Library\Symbols
[Footprint Viewer Type]
Type=Allegro
[Allegro Footprints]
Dir0=C:\Users\ac137\Cadence-Library\Footprints
Dir1=C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\share\pcb\pcb_lib\Symbols

However when I start Capture the libraries pane is still empty and I have to load my libraries every time.

Ive confirmed that the Cadence-Library\Symbols directory I specified contains OLB files. Ive started Capture with a bare minimum capture.ini with only the above lines to the same effect. Is there a setting somewhere else I'm missing? Am I configuring it wrong?

    Add libraries under [Part Selector Configured Libraries] section in capture.ini present at %Home% location as follows:

    [Part Selector Configured Libraries]
    Number of Configured Libraries=8
    Library0=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\MISC3.OLB
    Library1=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\DRAM.OLB
    Library2=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\MISCLINEAR.OLB
    Library3=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\FILTER.OLB
    Library4=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\ELECTROMECHANICAL.OLB
    Library5=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\FIFO.OLB
    Library6=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\GATE.OLB
    Library7=C:\CADENCE\SPB174\TOOLS\CAPTURE\LIBRARY\FPGA.OLB

    Then, Place part section will look like it:

    Thank you. Setting that manually worked. I WAS trying to do the in-tool method before but it wasnt working. Is there a setting I have to enable for the libraries to save?

    Simply add these libraries in 'Place Part' dialog. You can add as many as number of libraries here in this dialog. Once added, Select any one of these libraries and place any random part from it.

    Save the design and exit from tool.

    Now re-launch the tool and open any design or create new design, you will find these libraries are already there in 'Place Part' window.
