OrCAD – Tip of the Week: Footprint Viewer in OrCAD Capture

At times, you may want to see the actual footprint of the schematic symbol you are using in your design. Opening the layout tool like Allegro PCB Editor just to view the physical symbol is certainly not an efficient way of working.

Capture provides an integrated footprint viewer, which shows the physical symbol just at a click of a button. Once the footprint path is configured, right-click on the schematic symbol and select Show Footprint to open Footprint Viewer.

You can see details like the pin numbers and names as shown below.

The footprint path must be configured in the capture.ini file under [Allegro Footprints].
