CIS Configuration displays error after clicking.

Hello all,

I am running into a kind of strange problem here and I haven't found any good leads online.

I basically have a .DBC Configuration file that we use at work that includes all of our database parts that we use at work and so on.

Now, after clicking on options on the pull down menu (ORCAD CAPTURE 17,2), and then on CIS configuration, I get the following error messages:

I did read the error message and went to Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools > ODBC Datasources (64-BIT) , but after playing with it for sometime I still haven't figured it out. I appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this and guide me through it. I am using ORCAD at work so the configuration file is on the network on a shared drive. It is currently working on my PC but not on my colleagues which I am trying to fix it for him. Thank you all.

Best regards.

Neil Mustafa.

    CIS needs:

    • 64-bit windows ODBC connection ( windows-button> Windows Administrative Tools>  ODBC data sources 64-bit>
    • DBC file that links SQL fields to CIS properties.
    • Capture.ini template (references the DBC and ODBC.  A way to share customization/optimization including column setup for part browsing.)

    Hi Robert,

I am not smart enough to understand what you told me even though I feel like it's the correct answer. Would you mind sharing a little more details? After clicking on odbc 64bit , I haven't been able to figure it out from there. What is the significance of capture.ini.

    Thanks for your feedback Robert!

Fortunately, you have at least one machine with a working ODBC connection.  You will need to copy this to the other machine.   On the ODBC administrator window, look for the [System DSN] tab for all users on the machine instead of just [User DSN] tab.

A problem may be you won't be able to read the working SQL login password.

But, with the off-the-shelf CIP manager, there's a default credential (username and pass) in the user guide.
