How to Rename Netgroup

SimpleFix
SimpleFix over 2 years ago

Hello. I'd like to rename a netgroup in my design. I can see there is a rename button for netgroup members in the modify netgroup area, but how do you rename the netgroup itself? I guess you could export the netgroup modify it manually then reimport it but that is cumbersome.

Capture CIS 22.1 P001

Thanks,
Andrew

Name of placed unnamed and named NetGroup can be changed. To change the name, double mouse clicks on the name of placed NetGroup. In the Value text box of the Display Properties window, specify the required name.

I don't use Netgroup blocks and when I edit the Netgroup name directly in the schematic editor, it creates a Netgroup alias (with original name in curly braces) instead of renaming the Netgroup. I can right click the Netgroup in the schematic editor and edit properties -> user properties -> Net Name -> Display -> but the Netgroup name is not editable there. I did try a Netgroup block like yours and renaming it changes the Netgroup name on that block, but no all other existing uses of that Netgroup in the schematic get renamed. Seems like there should be a way to rename the Netgroup in the netgroup editor so all existing uses of that Netgroup in the schematic get renamed automatically when you rename it in the Netgroup editor.

    Thanks for your help,

    Andrew
