TCL Automatic "Reload Library Part"

Dear community,

We have following scenario:

Symbol library is stored on a network drive. When working from Home Office or on another company location, the network connection may be slow and therfore capture speed is also reduced.

Therefore I implemented a tcl script which automatically copies the symbol library file from the network drive to the local drive at capture start up. I want to improve the script further. I want to periodically check if the library file on the network drive is newer than the file on the local drive. This is done asynchronously in a separate thread.

My issue now is, that capture does not recognize changes in the symbol library if I just replace the old local file with the newer one from the network drive. I first need to invoke "PlacePartReloadLib" on this specific library.

I can do this by clicking on the Reload button in the "Place Part" dialog, or I can select the library from the "Place Part" and invoke "PlacePartReloadLib" in the command window.

Actually, I want to automize this process. So how can I tell capture to reload my specific library? Unfortunately, there is no parameter which I can specify when using PlacePartReloadLib...

Can anybody help me out here?

Best regards

Georg

    Hi Georg,

As you are replacing the old OLB with new or modified from the network location. So, after replace there is change in time stamp of the OLB.

In this case I think you can run the command "PlacePartReloadLib" when ever there is change in .olb file time stamp.

Thanks for your answer. I know the command. I think the issue is, that this command only reload the library which is selected in the "Place part" window, or am I wrong? I have multiple libraries in the "Place part" window, so the issue is to select the changed library before.
