CIP properties show up as null in component property

Hi,

I'm trying to implement CIP with our CIS database.  CIS database is running with Microsoft Access database.

After getting the local CIP running, I tried to import the CIS to CIP with "Bulk Import" feature.  Everything works out fine and managed to add components and showing correct properties information in CIP.

When I go to place the component on the board through the "Place" button in "Schematic Part" box and go to "Property Editor", all property from CIP are showing as "null".

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

I believe CIP is designed to be used with MS-SQL, not Access.

There is a free MS-SQL Express available from Microsoft having a database size limit most companies would never hit for CIS.

<edit>  CIP is designed to configure which data is viewed in Capture CIS using SQL table views.

I don't think MS Access ever supported query of SQL table Views.

So I have to setup the CIS to use MS-SQL instead of MDB?

    This is my current setup.

CIS_Lib is the CIS databse and CIP-E_CIS_DB is the CIP.

The client installer for CIP users creates the 64-bit ODBC connector named  "CIP-E_CIS_DB".

    CIS should connect to that.

The CIP server installer gives you four variations of a *.dbc config file that sets up the ODBC link for Orcad CIS to work.

If you have access to it, the location is C:\Cadence\CIP-E\Configuration_Files\
